Introduction & Aim

My name is Ryan McCord.  I am an American, who loves all things nature and wildlife photography related!  I have always been fascinated by nature and wildlife from a young age. I currently enjoy exploring nature across our world. Nature photography helps me de-stress, slow down and reconnect with nature. My photographic intention is to share our intricate wild world and the many things that most never experience. I specialize in nature and wildlife photography.  My work often consists of photographing funga, flora, and fauna. You will also find landscapes, macro, and wildlife.  I am honored to have you stop by my site.  Thank you for taking an interest in my work!

Process

I plan my shoots according to location, weather, season, time and according to the species activity that I am focusing on. I also routinely like to visit sites in advance in order to plan for the best composition, location and lighting whenever possible. I try to use natural lighting and only use flashes when ethical and practical. I also love using photography apps when planning out my shots. I occasionally use camouflage and set up hides if am photographing skittish subjects. I often use Capture One to edit my photos.

Education and Training

I completed a bachelor’s degree in fine arts.  My university education aided me with the further improvement of my composition and editing. I continue self-studying photography, new technology and related equipment. I also draw on my experience from being an ib teacher, this has allowed me to assist others, analyze better and plan better. We are blessed with all the technological advances occurring with cameras and lenses. The current technological sensor and AI processing chip achievements make learning possibilities endless and fun! It’s important to learn from each photographic session, the subject, the environment and from our experiences. I am also a veteran and use my experience from the military in many ways to my advantage in the field. Whether it be bushcraft, concealment or dealing with severe weather, one should always be well prepared.
